Key Challenges & Project Details
- Project consisted of the Route 360 eastbound bridge replacement over Swift Creek along with the widening of Route 360 from two lanes to four lanes
- Existing bridge completely demolished
- 170’ long, 70’ wide, three span bridge constructed with structural steel girders
- Steel H-pile was installed at the two abutments, while the two piers were installed on bedrock
- Active Verizon duct bank hanging from existing bridge was maintained and incorporated into the new structure
- Complex project required aggressive schedule
- Coordinated with an adjacent commercial development project resulting in a cost savings to both project owners
- Although granted a three month extension, project was completed several months prior to the original completion date
- No recordable or lost time injuries
